Husband accused of abusive language, damage to property

A man who was accused of using abusive language to his common-law wife and damaging property belonging to her was put on $20,000 bail yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.

Thirty-five-year-old Jeremy Simpson is alleged to have used abusive language to Shirley Harris. Simpson is also accused of causing damage to property belonging to Harris.

Police Sergeant Gordon Mansfield, prosecuting, told the court that on March 5 Simpson of lot 693 East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme made use of abusive language to Harris and two days later damaged a quantity of onions, garlic and potatoes, all to the value of $1,980, being the property of the said Harris.
Mansfield did not object to bail and the matter was transferred to Court One for April 16.
