The St Martin News Network today said that a Guyanese couple died by murder/suicide on the Caribbean island of St Maarten.
The report out of Philipsburg identified the dead couple as Cheryl Withrite (52) and Cleon Anthony Bourne (54) known as `Tall Boy’. It is believed that Bourne murdered Withrite and then took his own life.
SMN News said that Withrite was an employee of Burger King. A large number of Guyanese live on the Dutch/French island.
The report quoted Police Spokesman Richard Henson as saying that the police found the woman dead inside her apartment while the man was found seriously injured at the back of his apartment. Henson, according to the report, said that the man jumped through the window and he was found with a large open wound on his stomach and his throat had been slashed. The report further said that when police found the man he was still alive and was transported to the St. Maarten Medical Center where he died shortly after.
The report added that Bourne is originally from La Grange, West Bank Demerara and is the father of one child who is living in Guyana. The SMN News report said that he was expected to travel to Guyana on Wednesday because he was unemployed.
SMN News says it learnt that Withrite is the mother of one child who also resides in Guyana.
