18 months for stabbing woman with screwdriver

A man was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment yesterday by Magistrate Sueann Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court when he appeared before her to answer the charge of unlawful wounding.

Wendell Eastman was found guilty of wounding Coleen Charles on April 15, 2011 while Charles and some friends were drinking at the South Central Guest House.

Charles and Eastman had a misunderstanding and subsequently Eastman armed himself with a screwdriver and stabbed Charles several times about her body.

The matter was reported and the injured Charles had to seek medical attention for her injuries. The accused was later arrested and charged with the offence.
