Cotton Tree crash victims still hospitalized

Several persons hurt in the smash-up, which claimed the life of 23-year old Raymond Madray, on Sunday last at Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice remain patients at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Twenty-seven-year-old Permaul Madray of Bennett Dam, East Bank Berbice; Satyanand ‘Kevin’ Persaud, 24, of Essequibo; his girlfriend 18-year old Rashana Jarawala of Berbice; Kevin Williamson of Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice and Geeta Persaud, 35, of Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara all remain patients at the institution and are said to be improving.

Geeta Persaud sustained a broken ankle and a fractured leg; she is also missing a tooth and is complaining of severe pains about her body.

Kevin Williamson and his wife Babita, who were passengers in Geeta’s car, are recovering however Kevin sustained severe neck injuries and he cannot stand up without being supported, according to his mother Annie Archer Williamson.

Madray sustained a broken right leg while, Satyanand Persaud and his girlfriend Jarawala are complaining of severe pains about their bodies.

According to reports, the younger Madray was driving his car PFF 9723 east and was negotiating a turn when he collided with another car PHH 8004 driven by Geeta Persaud who was proceeding in the opposite direction. It was also reported that Madray was speeding and lost control of his vehicle while banking the turn.

Madray died before receiving medical attention.
