Fake ‘relatives’ rob Stanleytown couple

A Stanleytown couple was relieved of $11,000 as well as jewellery and other items, after two gunmen posing as relatives invaded their home on Thursday night.

Police in a press release said that Mark ‘Odell’ Alexander, 26, and his 19-year old reputed wife Anntiesha Duncan were at their Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara home when sometime around 8.30 pm, two men purporting to be sent by a relative held them up and bound them with duct tape.

The gunmen escaped after they robbed the couple of $11,000, a quantity of jewellery and articles.

Neighbours recalled hearing no unusual noise and said the couple made no alarm during the attack. When Stabroek News visited the couple’s home it was locked up and no one appeared to be in the building.

Subsequent efforts to contact them proved futile.
