Village economies to be revived – President
In his inaugural Indepe-dence address to the nation, President Donald Ramotar last night announced that the government plans to revitalize village economies countrywide.
Reflecting on this country’s history, Ramotar stated that while Guyana has made laudable post independence strides it still has a long way to go and an important part of getting there is through the inclusiveness and vibrant village economies.
“Fellow Guyanese, our country has come a far way in building a dynamic society. This was possible through the democratic system that we chose as our path to prosperity and peace. However, we must acknowledge that in some areas we have a far way to go. Local democracy is one such area.
