Market vendor on $20,000 bail over attacks

Surat Pollard was on Friday in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court admitted to $20,000 bail by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton on two charges following alleged physical attacks on  Wayne Vieira.

Pollard is accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Vieira  on May 26 at Duke Street, Kingston and then again on May 29 at the said location he is alleged to have unlawfully assaulted the said Vieira.

Pollard made an application for bail, stating that he is a 39-year-old market vendor at the Stabroek Market.

Police Prosecutor Corporal Simone Payne did not object to bail on the two charges and the magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of $10,000 on each charge.

Pollard has to  appear in Court Six on June 11.
