He noted that advertisements will soon be placed on television and in the newspapers for persons to participate in the workshop. Only twenty-five persons will be able to attend.

The workshops will be led by Bissessar Chintamanie who is based at UG Turkeyen “but has found it necessary to launch the workshops at UGBC”. “We only have space for 25 people, so we will be asking various organisations and institutions to nominate people”, Samad said.

The workshop is targeting the Region Six administration, Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Fisheries, Guyana Rice Board, the banks and Housing.

Speaking about the importance of the workshops, Samad said “… we need to realise, when we deal with one thing, that one thing is connected to 360 things— if one thing is equal to one degree, so you move one cog in the wheel and 360 spokes become affected— so I think the secret is not so much, knowledge in a single area but the critical thinking involved when something is done or about to be done, how does that affect other things?”
