Mazaruni escapees were serving sentences for armed robbery

The police say they are continuing the search aimed at recapturing two prisoners who fled from the Mazaruni Prisons yesterday. The two prisoners were among others who were on a recreational break in the prison compound when they were discovered missing at about 1330h, the police said this evening.

They are Seon Hopkinson, 27 years of Blueberry Hill Squatting area, Linden, and also Stanleytown, Berbice, who was serving concurrent three-year sentences for robbery under arms, unlawful possession of firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition; and Carlton Sampson, 26 years of Crane Old Road, WCD, who was serving sentences for robbery under arms and escape from lawful custody, the police disclosed.
