Guyanese businessman, two others injured in Suriname crash

A Guyanese businessman is among three persons who were injured during a vehicular accident in Nickerie, Suriname yesterday morning.

One of the injured has been identified as Keith King but this newspaper was unable to make contact with his relatives. The other two are also reportedly Guyanese.

When contacted yesterday afternoon, the Nickerie police commander who identified himself as Stanley Benschop confirmed that an accident did occur and that a Guyanese man was at the wheel at the time. He said that there were also two passengers in the car but he refused to divulge information on how the crash occurred or the names of those injured.

Benschop said that he could not release information over the telephone and advised this newspaper to contact the “ambassador”. He said he could only release the information through diplomatic channels.

Stabroek News has since learnt that the trio sustained serious injuries.
