NY NGO honours Manickchand for human services work

The New York Guyana Medical and Humanitarian Mission (NYGM) bestowed an award on Education Minister Priya Manickchand in recognition of her services to Guyana, during her tenure as Human Services and Social Security Minister.

“I’m really honoured here tonight for being gifted with a plaque for doing something I’m privileged to do,” Manickchand, was quoted as saying by the Government Information Agency (GINA) in her address at the ceremony, held at Hotel Tower on Saturday evening.

Manickchand has been a strong supporter of the mission’s work and was pleased about its 2011 mission. She offered suggestions to the organisation for future missions to Guyana, GINA said. Acknowledging that shecould not have done it alone, Manickchand commended and extended gratitude to all the workers whose efforts contributed to her success in this field.
