Farmer dies in accident on way home from cremation

An Essequibo Coast farmer died on Tuesday night after losing control of his motorcycle while returning home from a cremation.

Dead is 62-year-old Bharat Sancharie of Golden Fleece, Essequibo Coast.

According to reports, the man was returning home from a cremation and lost control of his motorcycle in the vicinity of the community of Zorg-en-Vlygt.

According to villagers at Zorg-en-Vlygt, Sancharie’s lifeless body was found floating in a canal yesterday morning in the community.

Reports are that the man was seen riding his motorcycle along the roadway around 10 pm on Tuesday and sometime after he ended up in the canal. It was not until yesterday morning that his body was discovered in the canal.

His grieving wife told Stabroek News that her husband had attended a funeral earlier on Tuesday and he was expected back home later that day. She said that relatives later learnt of the accident and her worst fears were later confirmed.

Sancharie’s body was taken to the privately-owned Suddie Funeral Parlour where it is awaiting a post -mortem examination.
