Campbellville mason to do community service for ganja possession

A mason who was caught with a quarter gramme of cannabis in his possession was yesterday fined $3,000 and ordered to perform six months of community service.

Rawl Williams accepted the charge of possession of narcotics, which stated that on August 8, at Georgetown, he had in his possession a quarter gramme of cannabis. When asked by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, before whom he appeared, his reason for having the illegal substance, Williams said that he smoked it.

The magistrate subsequently informed the 11 Stone Avenue, Campbellville Housing Scheme resident to report to the Prashad Nagar Police Outpost on Monday to perform community service.

The matter was heard at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
