US Ambassador donates cameras to Witness Project

United States Ambassador Brent Hardt yesterday donated cameras, camera cases and memory cards to seven new members of the Witness Project at the National Centre for Education Resource Development (NCERD).

The donation was made to the new members to facilitate the project’s aim of ending violence against women and children, through photography so as to draw the attention of adults and spark a conversation about the effects of violence in society upon children.

The Witness Project is the brainchild of the Margaret Clemons Foundation and currently comprises about 19 children, between the ages of 12 and 20.

After the presentation, Ambassador Hardt was interviewed by two members of the project, who asked him questions about various things, including his favourite food and his most embarrassing moment.

Ambassador Hardt told the children, in his address, that their voices must be heard and other means such as poetry and drama can be used to bring the message of domestic violence out. He also told the children that he hopes that they become effective advocates against domestic violence.
