Man killed in No. 10 hit and run

A man, said to be in his 40s lost his life after he was struck down by a vehicle around 8:30 pm at No. 10 Village, West Coast Berbice yesterday.

Police were last night trying to locate the driver of the vehicle who fled the scene. They were also trying to confirm the identity of the man who was pronounced dead on arrival at the Fort Wellington Hospital.

This newspaper was later told by a resident that the man was suspected to be from No. 12 Village and that he was known as ‘Batman.’

When Stabroek News visited the hospital the police were there and they said the man’s name was “still unknown.” They also said that it was a “hit-and-run” accident.
