Luncheon apologises to Solomon over names mix-up

Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon on Wednesday night apologised to Region 10 Chairman Sharma Solomon for incorrectly stating earlier in the day that the region was still to name its three nominees to the committee which will review the economic situation in Linden.

Solomon had made the submission of the names on Tuesday.

“I got a letter from Dr Luncheon last night profoundly apologizing because he said he did not know the names were submitted.

But the damage is already done and I am going to be making a public statement on the issue,” Solomon told this newspaper when contacted yesterday morning.
Solomon said that the deadline for the tendering of the names was yesterday and he had made his submission on Tuesday.

A Government Information Agency release on Wednesday quoted Dr Luncheon as saying that the Region 10 names were not submitted.

It said that the agreement between the two sides will pave the way forward for Linden and will see the electricity and economic situation of the mining town reviewed but that it “is yet to commence despite the Region Ten Administration claiming to have the interest of Lindeners at heart.”

Dr Luncheon also said that thus far the team to review the electricity situation has been constituted and members have received their letters of appointment. Colgrain House has been identified as the venue where the two committees will carry out their functions.
