UNDP’s Youth-In project invites entries for climate change cartoon contest

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Youth-In Project is inviting young people to submit entries for a Climate Change Cartoon Competition by October 15.

According to a press release, the contest is being sponsored by the UNDP Sub-regional Office for Barbados and the OECS and it is one of the youth promotion activities funded under the UNDP project Youth Innovation (Youth-In).

A spokesperson for UNDP said the objective of the competition is to encourage young people from the Caribbean to portray issues of concern related to climate change from a young person’s perspective. The competition is open to all citizens or residents of the Caribbean ages 16-29 years old.

The competition has been launched via the Youth-In portal (www.youth-in.com) and http://www.facebook. com/youthinnovation) that promotes the use of social media and networking tools as platforms for raising awareness and promoting activities, empowering youth, and enabling them to literally change the world.

A number of exciting prizes, including 15-inch Macbook Pros for the winner of the contest and of the innovation award are up for grabs. Each applicant is required to submit online one original cartoon which will be judged by a panel, to email address contests@youth-in.com. Ten finalists will be shown in the Youth-In portal. Text included in the cartoon can be in any of the official languages of the Caricom members and associate states. However, all submissions must be translated into English, should they be in another language. Translation can be submitted in the entry description. Entries submitted without translation will be disregarded.

UNDP says entries submitted should not benefit any company, organization, political party or official interest group by the use, of instance of logos, brands or representatives, corporations, parties or organizations. Nudity, lewd, explicit or implicit violence or otherwise offensive or inappropriate content will also be disqualified.
