Stabbed Sophia woman released from hospital

Anneta George, the ‘C’ Field Sophia woman who was stabbed to the abdomen after a fight on Tuesday evening, was discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital yesterday.

George had also sustained injuries to the face, after she was involved in a fight while she was coming from a shop. Hospital officials confirmed her release from the facility last evening.

The woman’s sister had told this newspaper that she and her sister, who was holding a child, were coming from the shop in Sophia when the incident occurred. She stated that they were passing a group of girls, who they knew and had a previous confrontation with, when one of them came from behind and lashed her sister.

Her sister then tried to push off her attacker and a fight ensued.

She said she somehow managed to grab the child from her sister’s arms as the girl continued to hit her. The duo then ended up in a nearby trench, and the girl continued hitting at George, particularly in her face, causing it to burst.

George’s sister said she tried to part them but she was also attacked by the other girls who joined in the fight.

She added that a male relative of her sister’s attacker then came with a pair of scissors, which he gave to his relative.

And as the duo continued to fight her sister was stabbed.

The police are investigating the matter.
