Man accused of stealing cash, gold and diamonds

A man was yesterday accused of stealing over $6M in cash, gold and diamonds in a break and enter and larceny.

Oswald Layne, however, pleaded not guilty and was yesterday placed on $150,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

It is alleged that on September 24, in Georgetown, Layne broke and entered the dwelling house of Campton Seepersaud and stole $5M in cash, and $1.4M in gold and diamonds, which belonged to Seepersaud.

No further details of the offence were given to the court.

The prosecution had no objections to bail and the case was adjourned until October 12.
