Man stole artificial jewellery, court told

Prince Pickering was yesterday charged with stealing a woman’s artificial jewellery.

He was placed on $10,000 bail after he denied the charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It was alleged that on October 22, in Georgetown, Pickering, 19 of Lot 123 Third Street, Agricola, stole an artificial chain, valued at $1000, and an artificial band, valued at $800, belonging to Shirley Wilson.

No further details were provided but the court heard that Pickering previously faced charges of possession of narcotics and assault, which were dismissed.

After bail was set, the case was adjourned until November 1.
