Homeless man’s body found in abandoned Corentyne building

The decomposed body of a homeless man was yesterday morning found in an abandoned building at Williamsburg, Corentyne, Berbice, around 10.40 am.

The man was identified as Junior Henry, 41, also known as ‘Black Boy’. According to neighbours not far from the abandoned house, they last saw the man about a week ago.

A resident of the area told Stabroek News that Henry, who worked as a labourer, was ill for some time. He added that Henry would normally stop by his house and he would give him some food, but for the past week he had not seen him around.

Another neighbour said that the man’s body was buried yesterday some time around 4.30 pm. He added that was found in the old building was just skeletal remains. He also said that according to reports, stray dogs had attacked the body.

Henry was a homeless drug addict who was deported from the US some five years ago, residents said. Since his return, he had worked as a labourer at the Rose Hall Town Market assisting vendors to fetch their goods.
