St Rose’s, St Stanislaus in finals of impromptu speech contest

St Rose’s High and Saint Stanislaus College are set to challenge each other in the final round of the GBTI Impromptu Speech Competition.

In a press release, GBTI said St Rose’s High earned 618 points in its match against Queen’s College, which recorded 584 points, on Wednesday. St Rose’s Saif Panday was named Best Speaker for his presentation on the topic, which was ‘Qualities that make an outstanding leader.’

In the second semi-final match, St Stanislaus won with 630 points in its match against Central High School, which gained 623 points. Central’s Abigail Semple was named the Best Speaker for her presentation on the topic, ‘Is Christmas too commercialised?’

According to the release the judges believed that the students had improved tremendously but advised that they read more and keep up to date with current events.

The final match and closing ceremony of the competition will be held at GBTI’s Recreational Centre on Tuesday at 3pm.
