Taxi-driver threatened to ‘bring his boys’ after near collision

-court hears

Seon Frank, a taxi-driver accused of threatening another driver after a misunderstanding, was yesterday sent on his own recognisance after a not guilty plea was recorded for him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry also placed Frank, 29, of Lot 10 Victoria Village, East Coast Demerara, on a bond to keep the peace pending the determination of the matter.

It was alleged that on November 21, in Georgetown, Frank made use of threatening language to a fellow taxi driver Errol Harry.

Frank previously admitted to the court that he and Harry did exchange words, but after an explanation, a not guilty plea was recorded for him.

Prosecutor Seon Blackman told the court that on the date in question, Frank nearly collided with Harry while driving and the two had a misunderstanding which led to an argument, resulting in Frank threatening to “bring his boys.”

Blackman said that the matter was reported to the Alberttown Police Station and Frank was later arrested and charged.

When given the opportunity to speak, Frank said that he was the one who complained to police because they had an exchange of words. However, he denied uttering the words mentioned by Blackman.

The prosecution did not object to bail and Frank was released on his own recognisance. The case has been adjourned until January 4, 2013, when it is to be called in Court One for reports and fixtures.
