A man was yesterday granted $600,000 bail when he appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate Court, East Coast Demerara (ECD) after 3 kilogrammes, 378 grammes of compressed marijuana were found on cargo belonging to him.
According to a press release from the police, Anthony Thompson, 29 years old, of Independence Boulevard, La Penitence, was at the Ogle Airport, ECD to go on a local flight to Imbaimadai, Mazaruni on Monday last when the marijuana was discovered.
The marijuana was said to be concealed in the hollow part of a chair and was found by the Police Narcotics Branch.
Thompson has been charged with trafficking in narcotics and was granted bail when he appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore. He is expected to make another appearance on January 14, 2013.
