Ganja user fails to sway court with asthma story

A man who told the court yesterday that he uses cannabis to treat his asthma failed to make any headway with Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

Ryan Smith was fined $3,000 with the alternative of six months community service, after he pleaded guilty to the charge of the possession of narcotics.

Smith, who appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, was found with one gramme of cannabis, on December 17 at Bourda Market.
