Does an organization have a mandate if elected by only one of three cricket boards?

Dear Editor,

I have specifically avoided airing my views publicly during the last four years, however I feel obligated to enter into the current cricket imbroglio as a result of the latest development.

Clive Lloyd served Guyana cricket, the West Indies team and indeed cricket itself, with  honour, skill and dedication for nearly five decades. I for one, would not stand quietly by while elements seek to destroy the character of one of our heroes.

I do not want to take sides as I am sure there are numerous arguments for and against; two questions would suffice:

1) Who would be considered the right and proper party to have conducted the last election of the Demerara Board?

2) Does an organisation have a truly valid mandate if it was elected by only one of the three Boards?

I truly hope that the situation can be resolved with consideration for the players who have such a short period in which to exhibit their talent and shine in the cricket arena. Surely an independent assessment of all teams that have a right to vote in the case of the Demerara Board, could resolve that issue for new elections, and with its resolution, a new GCB election could be mandated.

Good Luck to our 20/20 team!

Yours faithfully,
Beverley Harper
