Ferry to Bartica turned back to collect another car

Dear Editor,

I was a passenger going to Bartica on Saturday 2012– 03– 04 with the Ferry.

The Ferry departed at 09.10 hrs, only to return to the stelling to take in another car, COS–1. I was annoyed as well as other passengers, so I investigated from a sailor and what he told me was both annoying and amazing.

He said that the car was left because the employee in charge collected money from another car that was in the passageway and left back COS–1. Another official then called for space to be made to take in the car.

While the passengers were quarrelling so were the drivers of vehicles who say that is the normal thing. It was later revealed that  the employee in question has been working at Parika for just over two years and has already purchased a car.

The ferry departed at 09:50 hrs. As a regular traveller on the steamer, I am kindly asking the Hon. Minister Mr. R Benn and the T&HD Manager to investigate and make a public statement on the findings.

Thanks.

Yours faithfully,
