Dear Editor,
If you wish to retain the readership of the older generation — even those who only skim – you need to publish in proper English. In that lost cause you may wish to let the responsible sub-editor check the words “dissemination” and “degeneration” in a dictionary. Assuming your reporter was accurate (not, alas, a certainty!), you had the choice of paraphrasing the statement reported, or risking a charge of treason – if not sacrilege – for publicly embarrassing a high one.
