PNC should unite behind Granger as the consensus candidate to lead the party at the next congress

The glaring mismanagement of the PPP/C regime, along with the latter’s dictatorial tendencies has pushed me further towards the PNCR, as I long for a political alternative to lead Guyana.

However, I am very worried that the PNCR, which had to repair itself after leadership contests at two previous congresses, is now poised to face another competitive leadership battle if Mr Granger and Mr Greenidge decide to run against each other at this year’s PNC congress.

Editor, those two men are doing an excellent job as they represent APNU in Guyana’s parliament, hence I am afraid that if they choose to run against each other for the PNCR’s leadership additional divisions of loyalty could occur within the party and those divisions could cause other types and areas of division.

My view is that the PNCR’s functionaries should seek to have one person serve as opposition leader and leader of the party, and thus unite behind Brigadier (rtd) David Granger as the consensus candidate at next month’s congress of the party.

Yours faithfully,
Morris Wilson
