Information about National Assembly appreciated

Dear Editor,

Recent revelations by the Clerk of the National Assembly are startling indeed. In the past this information was never public. It is appreciated that the voting public are more informed about procedures in the National Assembly. There are many unanswered questions that the average citizen would like to know, namely the salary of parliamentarians; their functions when they are not in the National Assembly; and which MP residents in a particular community need to approach for whatever reason. Approximately a million dollars is quite a hefty sum for one sitting of Parliament, and recent postures in the National Assembly suggest something more akin to a convalescent home. Better could and must be done. The newly elected Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Raphael Trotman, is certainly very innovative in his approach and is capable of being the best speaker of the House in recent years, or ever.

Our task in this country is not only to fix the blame for the past, but also to adjust the course of the future.

By the way, I am proud of the community of Linden and although not born there, my parents were both born in the mining town.

Yours faithfully,
Lloyd Davidson
