High Commissioners to UK, India should be recalled

Dear Editor,

It is good to see the Foreign Minister and Director General are undertaking a long overdue Spring clean of Guyana’s Missions abroad. There are at least two other Missions that need urgent attention;

a. The High Commissioner in London Laleshwar Singh has been in post for nigh on two decades now. His sell by date has come and gone several times. It is frankly a disgrace he is still in post and a gross dis-service to the nation. Pull the plug.

b. The High Commissioner to India Ronald Gajraj was sent there to hide many years ago from political enemies and worse. He too has way under-performed and deserves time calling on him. Now.

Guyana has eminent and respected envoys in countries as varied as China and Barbados to call on. To say nothing of some of the talent out with the Foreign Service in the OAS in Trinidad.

Come on, Caroline, you’ve started now clear out the Augean stable completely.

Yours faithfully,
John ‘Bill Cotton/Reform’ Mair
