Fire service responded promptly to Bartica IMC fire

Dear Editor,

The residents and the IMC-NDC Bartica would like to thank the Guyana Fire Service stationed in Bartica for their quick response on Friday, November 9, when bad-minded persons wilfully set the NDC building on fire. Most of the documents were damaged by fire and water.

The office will have to be repaired at the cost of millions. The fire service responded promptly.

Banks DIH and Mr Yassin‘s General Store which was next door were OK.

Since the Guyana Fire Service came to Bartica they have always responded promptly to fire calls regardless of the time.

The IMC-NDC is now located in a government building in the triangle, First Street Bartica. The IMC has inherited lots of problems from the previous NDC.

Recently there has been illegal vending along the roadside in First and Second Avenues which causes lots of problems for vehicles parking. At present there is confusion by the market and arcade area. The Ministry of Local Government, the police and the IMC are working to sort out these problems for the Christmas holidays.

Once again, thanks to the Guyana Fire Service

Yours faithfully,
Winston B Miller Sr
