Bermuda crashes to second defeat

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates,  CMC – Bermuda suffered their second straight loss in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers played here  yesterday, when they went down by eight wickets to Hong Kong.

Opting to bat first at the ICC Global Cricket Academy Ground, Bermuda posted a competitive 161 for five off 20 overs, with captain David Hemp top-scoring with a run-a-ball 43.

Janeiro Tucker stroked a cameo unbeaten 31 from 19 balls with two four and two sixes while Dion Stovell smashed 29 from 15 balls.
However, Hong Kong then coasted to their target with 15 balls to spare, thanks to a superb unbeaten 87 from Jamie Atkinson.

Babar Hyat (6) fell in the opening over with the score on seven but Atkinson and Irfan Ahmed (50) put on 113 from 72 balls for the second wicket to seal victory for Hong Kong.

At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Ireland, coached by former West Indies all-rounder Phil Simmons, beat Kenya by 10 wickets in a low-scoring encounter.

Kenya were sent packing for 71 off 19 overs and Ireland cruised to their target in 7.2 overs, with William Porterfield striking an unbeaten 56 from 27 balls.
