CCJ grants former GCB executives special leave to file appeal

The Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) on Monday granted  former members of the Guyana Cricket Board special leave to appeal the decision by the Minister responsible for Sport Dr. Frank Anthony to dissolve the GCB and replace it with an Interim Management Committee (IMC).

According to a press release, the CCJ  in granting the  special leave said it determined that there existed “substantial grounds of argument.”
The hearing of the appeal is fixed for May 29.

On December 28 last year, the GCB had applied through its lawyers Sir Fenton Ramsahoye S.C. and Sanjeev Datadin to the High Court to have the decision of the Minister to set up the IMC quashed being arbitrary and unlawful.

That application was refused by the Acting Chief Justice Ian Chang S.C.

The GCB then appealed to the Full Court for a review of Chang’s order. That application was also  refused.

The GCB then asked for leave to review the Full Court’s decision which was also refused.
