Gatorade and Bakewell onboard with President’s/Jefford Track Classic

Hydration will definitely not be a problem at the 2012 edition of the President’s/Jefford Track Classic slated for the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in Linden on May 20 as Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) under the Gatorade brand decided to be a part of the event.

An official statement from the Gatorade brand stated their pleasure in providing Guyana’s young, rising stars with the highest rated hydration sports drink in the world.

“Over the years we have used this brand in support of sports and its development. Today we are pleased to be handing over the world’s number one sport drink Gatorade, to rehydrate, replenish and refuel the participants of this tournament to ensure that they perform at their best! Gatorade is used around the world by the best athletes, thus we saw it fitting to provide our young uprising stars with the same opportunity,” the statement said.

Meanwhile Bakewell also decided to make their sponsorship of the tournament public by handing over an undisclosed sum of money to the organizers of the event.

Manager of the Bakewell Brand, Nasir Mohammed, at the handing over last Thursday said  that they are interested in the development of sports and this sparked their interest in the event.

“We are into development and helping people. That’s our life. We are pleased to be supporting this competition as yet another sign of our contribution to the development of sports in Guyana,” he concluded. President of the Athletics Association of Guyana, Colin Boyce, then thanked Bakewell for their input into the event. “I must say that on behalf of my co-partner and myself, I am happy to have your company on board to support us as we continue to expand this event. I am grateful that you can contribute to the development of our athletes,” Boyce said.
