A dazzling display of chiseled physiques will be on show tonight when the Hugh Ross Classic (HRC) Committee stages its third Bodybuilding Competition and Fitness Fair at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground.

The event which is only open to bodybuilders from Georgetown will be the third of four sub-meets before the grand HRC final at the National Cultural Centre  on July 28.

Royston Booker, the 2010 Hugh Ross Classic (HRC) overall winner, and reigning overall bodybuilding Novices champion Donnel Perry are scheduled to be onstage this evening.

Perry who will compete in the bantamweight division (143 pounds) dazzled the capacity crowd at the Theatre Guild last month at the Novices Championship when he displayed his rippling abdominals, well defined quadriceps and sculpted arms in his free posing routine and compulsory poses.

The Buddy’s Gym bodybuilder is  a known crowd pleaser. He is looking to emulate last month’s performance with his improved physique.

Booker who builds his physique at the GMR&SC Gym will do battle in the heavyweight category (177 pounds and over). However the two musclemen are destined to clash in the overall pose down of category winners.

Patrons should take advantage to see the city’s top musclemen and musclewomen on show as admission for the event is free. There will also be food, drinks and entertainment in the form of trampolines, jumping castles and bumper cars for the children.

Gates will be opened from 17:00hrs.

The top two musclemen in each category will book places at the third biennial Hugh Ross Classic.

The top two bodybuilders will also receive supplement packages, compliments of Fitness Express, to further fine-tune their physiques for Guyana’s signature bodybuilding event.

The next and final sub-meet will be held in Rose Hall, Berbice on June 2. Only bodybuilders residing in Berbice will be eligible to enter.

The first sub-meet was scheduled for Linden two weeks ago but there was only one competitor. He was given a free pass to the finals on July 28. The second sub-meet was staged last weekend at the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground for bodybuilders of the West Coast of Demerara. The overall winner was 2010 Mr. Guyana Clint Duke.

Sponsors for the event include Fitness Express, Mohamed’s Enterprise, Banks Malta Supreme, Hand in Hand Insurance Company, City Mall, Fazia’s Collections and Buddy’s Gym.
