Trophy Stall XI in zone final today against Regal XI

Trophy Stall XI demolished Herstelling Raiders by 67 runs to reach the Georgetown zone final of the Guyana Softball League T10 tournament.

They will oppose Regal XI in the male open category of the tournament which is being sponsored by Moonlite Trading, Regal Stationery and Computer Centre, Elegance Jewellery and Pawnshop and Mike’s Copy Centre.

In the match played recently, Trophy Stall won the toss and elected to bat scoring 149-1 in their allotted 10 overs.

Surujpaul Deosarran hammered 81 off 30 balls with eight sixes. He was supported by Mark Harold with a quick fire 41.

In reply, Herstelling Raiders struggled to 82-7 in their 10 overs with Ricky Sargeant top scoring with 24. Skipper Fazal Rafeek took 2-15.

The zone final will be contested today at the Cyril Potter College Ground from 9.30am to determine the team to go through to the countrywide quarter-finals tomorrow at Everest Ground.

In a male over 35 match played last weekend at Cyril Potter College Ground Young Guns defeated Better Hope XI by three wickets:

Better hope XI made 200 all out in 19.4 overs with Fazal Khan 49 and Satrohan Seeraj, 35, the principal scorers.

Ricky Persaud bagged 3-25.

In reply, Young Guns reached 201-7 in 19.1 overs with Winston. Reid 57 and Mohamed Yusuf 52 the main contributors. Dharmendra Mohabir picked up 3-25. In another encounter Regal Masters XI mauled Chavic XI by 160 runs.

Regal Masters XI batted first and scored 225-5 in 20 overs. (Mahase Chunilall 56; Lance Adams 51).

In reply, Chavic XI were bundled out for 65 in 11.2 overs.

(Mahendra Arjune 4-9 from four overs; Samuel Kingston 4-10 from four overs).

In their second match Chavic XI lost to East Bank by two runs in a nail biter.

East Bank made 172 all out in 18 overs batting first with Patrick Khan’s 88 the top score. Vivian Bissoon chipped in with 21.

In reply, Chavic XI came agonizingly close but overs ran out and they ended on 170-9 in 20 overs. Patrick Khan picked up 3-20 from four overs.

At the Helena Ground, Dundee XI defeated Farmers XI by seven wickets.

Farmers XI batted first and scored 183-7 in 20 overs with Nandalall Premchand, 77 not out, the top scorer while Gautam Verma supported with 39.

Dundee XI replied with 184-3 in 19.4 overs. Mahaica Sports Club then gained a walkover from Dundee XI after they failed to turn up on time. (YD)
