AINLIM prevails at 5th Inter-Organization basketball tournament

AINLIM produced an outstanding and gutsy performance to bounce away champions of the fifth Inter-Organization basketball tournament held last Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. AINLIM, who got past Bosai Guyana in the semifinal 31-18, were on fire from the field in the final against Banks DIH as they blew out the drinks company 50-9 at the final buzzer. The one-day tournament saw a reasonable turn out which diminished as the supporters’ teams were knocked out. However, AINLIM dominated all their opponents, including Banks DIH courtesy of being red-hot shooting from the field especially against Banks.

Banks DIH in the final simply could not find the back of the net even when the sometimes casual defence of AINLIM converged on the drinks company boys with some degree of pressure.

AINLIM continued hitting shots from beyond the arc while running the fast break effectively against Banks as they opened up a lead from the get-go. Winston Chapman scored 10 points while Stephan Gillis chipped in with nine points all coming from beyond the arc. Royston Siland also of AINLIM won the tournament’s most valuable player (MVP) when the awards were handed out immediately after the completion of the tournament.
