Hinds wins Father’s Day race after Greaves disqualified

Yesterday’s annual Guyoil sponsored Father’s Day race.

Was won by Orville Hinds after Alonzo Greaves was disqualified.

Greaves was the actual winner of the event but was disqualified after himself and Robin Persaud were involved in a little fracas.

Andrew Reece was second and Paul De Nobrega third.

Walter Grant Stuart, Michael Anthony and Warren `40’ Mc Kay rounded out the top six.

De Nobrage won the junior event from Anthony and Raynauth Jeffrey while Raymond Newton, Steve fernandes and Kennard Lovell were the top three finishers in the Veterans category.

Walter Isaccs won the veterans over-60 category while Naomi Singh got the better of Marica Dick in the female category.

The race was organized by national Cycling Coach, Hassan Mohamed with sponsorship from Guyoil under its  CASTROL Brand.

The race commenced yesterday morning at 9am from  Wales Police Station, proceeded to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Essequibo before returning to Demerara Harbour Bridge for the finish.

The veterans, uprights and females turned back at the Uitvlugt Community Centre  and also finished at the Harbour Bridge.

Last year’s winners were Walter Grant Stuart (senior), Paul DeNobrega (junior), Kennard Lovell (veteran) Richard Charles (upright cyclist), Walter Isaacs (veteran over-60 years) and Hazina Barrett (female).
