St. George’s move closer to quarter final

St. George’s Secondary moved a step closer to the Georgetown quarter-finals of the Digicel Schools football competition yesterday when they secured 5-2 victory over Houston Secondary at the Georgetown Football Club Ground, Bourda.

Leon McCurdy in the 62nd and 85th minutes, Ozeal Small in the second minute, Robby McClaggon in the 35th minute and Azuma Small in the 65th minute were the goal scorers for St. George’s.

Houston Secondary’s Andell Flue netted in the 22nd minute and Shaquille Grant in the 80th minute.
St. George’s missed out on a number of goal scoring opportunities with national U-17 players Jermaine Scott being among them.

Action in the game between St George’s and Houston Secondary yesterday at the GFC ground.

Assistant coach Alwin Trotman said  afterwards  that with the team advancing their job has just gotten harder and they would have to work on a few weaknesses.

Trotman said that he was confident of the team  getting to the quarters and even winning the competition.
In other matches played yesterday Saints Stanislaus College defeated Charlestown 4-3 on penalties. The match ended two all in regulation time. The scorers for Saints were: Donavon Mickle and Quesi Sampson in the 22nd and 28th minutes, while Collis Bess scored in the 31st and 35th for Charlestown.

Over at the Tucville Ground, Tucville Secondary defeated Central High 5-0. The scorers for Tucville were Derwyn Fetter in the 30th and 35th minutes, Kevin Andrews in the 17th minute, Vermont Munroe in the 41st and Stefan Enoe in the 52nd minutes.
