Rose Hall Club gives monetary lift to powerlifting record holder

The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) made a timely a donation to Commonwealth Powerlifting record holder Vijai Rahim at its Area ‘H’ Ground last  Wednesday.

The donation included a $20,000  financial contribution to assist Rahim in his training, as well as other items.

The RHTY&SC’s first test cricketer Assad Fudadin handed over the donation and congratulated the
powerlifting champion on his achievement while urging him to remain committed and disciplined.

RHTY&SC Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster at the handing over ceremony stated that he was elated to learn that a fellow Berbician was a record holder for the Commonwealth in powerlifting. “It is sometimes hard to become the best but it is always harder to remain at the top and as such we would have to work harder, to be more committed and to always remain rooted to the ground as success tends to destroy people’s humble ways,” Foster stated.

West Indies cricketer Assad Fudadin, left, hands over the cheque to Vijai Rahim while Rahim’s coach Fazim Abdool looks on.

The long serving Secretary/CEO pledged his club’s continued assistance to Rahim and his coach Fazim Abdool and wished them more success in the future.

He also pleaded for more NGOs and business enterprises in the Ancient County to assist Rahim in his quest to break the powerlifting World record in his category.

Both Rahim and his coach expressed gratitude to the RHTY&SC for its timely assistance and pledged to continue to make Berbice and Guyana proud.

Rahim stated that the RHTY&SC is a role model organisation which he admires and he was grateful that the club has come on board to support his career.
