Priyanna Ramdhani lone success story for Guyana at Pan Am junior badminton

Junior Sportswoman of the Year Priyanna Ramdhani was the only successful badminton player when the XXI Pan American Junior Badminton Championships climaxed in Alberta, Canada on Saturday.

Ramdhani captured one silver medal and two bronze medals for the Guyana boys and girls team in the singles events.
According to a press release from president of the Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) Gokarn Ramdhani, Guyana was the only Caribbean country to medal at the high level championships.

Competing in the final of the Consolation singles event after she was eliminated in the first round, Ramdhani battled bravely before bowing out to Cassandra Yu of the United States of America 7-21, 5-21.

Ramdhani and Valeena Heukelon of Canada were also beaten 12-21, 7-21 by Karina Chan and Tammy Xie of the USA in the girls doubles semi-finals while in the semi-finals of the mixed doubles event, Ramdhani and Gustavo Salazar of Peru lost to Erick Doung and Yu of the USA 21-13, 17-21, 21-11.
