GDF annual athletics championships to run off from Tuesday

The Guyana Defence Force will hold their annual athletics championships from next Tuesday at Camp Ayanganna Sports Ground, after being postponed three weeks ago.

The three-day meet  was postponed due to the Linden crisis during the previously scheduled period of the sports.

However, since the Region Ten delegation and the government signed an agreement and the protests were halted, the GDF ranks that were posted in Linden will now be able to participate in the championships.

The meet will be the yardstick for the GDF to choose their best team to represent them at the Joint Services Championships in hopes of successfully defending their crown from last year’s victory by one point.

The three-day event on Tuesday, Wednesday and then on Friday after a rest day on Thursday will showcase some of Guyana’s best sprinters and jumpers.
The event is set to run off at 10:00hrs.
