Unique Group golf tourney on today

Golfers are expected to come out in their numbers today for the Unique Group Golf Tournament, starting off a packed calendar for October and November at 12.30pm.

According to a press release, “The dry weather has transformed the strategies of many of the top players who now have to approach the far harder greens with caution, while also enjoying greater distance off the tees.” Among the favourites to watch are Alfred Mentore who has vastly improved his accuracy off the tees, and Chatterpaul Deo who is on a winning streak and playing well below his 13 handicap, it added. Mohan Dinanauth, whose long driving gives him a great advantage, is also expected to compete.

Today’s tourney starts off September’s roster as players prepare for the marquee two-day events sponsored by Digicel and the biggest prize of all, the Guyana Open sponsored by Banks DIH. At the end of September, a large group will travel to Suriname to play in Paramaribo club’s invitational.
