Raiders’ unbeaten streak face Jets test

The Bosai Open basketball championship will continue tonight at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard-court from 18:30hrs with Retrieve Raiders opposing Amelia’s Ward Jets.

The Retrieve Raiders will put their undefeated streak on the line against the second seeded Amelia’s Ward Jets who lost their last match to Half Mile Bulls.

It was the first defeat for the Jets and prevented them from drawing even with Raiders.

With Retrieve Raiders on top of the points’ table the match-up is set to be an intriguing one with national players Dwayne ‘Brown Sugar’ Roberts and forward Neil Marks looking to put on a show in the mining town.

The pair will also receive help from Dwight McKinnon and guard Sheldon Noel who has been stepping up to the plate along with Alexander Rose. Forward Louis James is back and another guard Ruel Williams has also been a force for the team in addition to junior national forward Geoffrey LaRose and centre Omar Sam who have been valuable options.

The Jets is expected to be a nightmare for the Raiders in the post area both defensively and offensively as they boast a massive front court in the Webster brothers (Shane and Allister) who will be depended upon to lock down the paint.

In addition to the Webster brothers the Jets will also rely on former junior national Jason Nelson who gives them more options up front along with Lawrence DaCosta. Their backcourt will feature their stylish captain in Kevin ‘Two-Feet’ Joseph, who will be supported by guard Emmanuel Archibald, Parrish Cadogan, Rodwell Pellew and Leonard Caleb.

The second game of the night will see the Kashif and Shanghai Kings going up against Block 22 Flames.

Kings will be expected to have it easy against Block 22 Flames who were the number one seed before the start of the tournament.

However, with their current strings of losses they will be in need of a win tonight against Block 22 Flames if they are to advance to the final four.
