Shuffler to meet with FIVB president next month

President of the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) Lennie Shuffler is breaking new ground in developing the sport both locally and regionally.

According to a press release, Shuffler has been invited along with other members of the South American Volleyball Association (CSV) to meet with new president of the International Federation of Volleyball (FIVB) Dr. Ary Graca.

The meeting will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on November 12 and 13.

Dr Graça was elected as the fourth FIVB President at the FIVB Congress at Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, USA in September.

Shuffler presented a block development plan to FIVB which was approved by the world body in 2004.

The plan involved a zonal approach to increase activity and lower the cost for volleyball participation in the area and included countries like Brazil, Suriname, Guyana, Venezuela and Trinidad.
The release also stated that an Invitational Club Tournament is planned for the November 15-19 involving teams from Suriname, Trinidad, Roraima (Brazil) and Guyana.

The competition will be played on the new Tara flex floor of the National Gymnasium which was donated to the GVF by the FIVB on the recommendation of the CSV, the release stated.
