GiftlandOfficemax has once again demonstrated its commitment towards the development of sports in Guyana by helping to sponsor the Phillip George Legacy basketball tournament which will be held on the outdoor Burnham Basketball Court from November 16 to December 16.
The tournament is being staged by the Colts Basketball Club in memory of the late Colts’ coach Phillip George. Public Relations Officer of GiftlandOfficemax Compton Bobb said that his establishment was very pleased to participate in an event which is aimed at honouring the memory of a great basketball stalwart.
Bobb, who once played for George’s Colts team, said that GiftlandOfficemax does not just see the Phillip George Legacy basketball tournament as a normal memorial tournament but as a step towards appreciating the contributions of George to local basketball while giving players to compete at their best as a tribute to a great coach. Bobb said that he hopes the event grows and is staged every year.
He also stated that his establishment was looking at the possibility of some other initiative besides helping to sponsor the tournament that will help to honour the memory of George.
At present however, GiftlandOfficemax will be sponsoring the first and second place prizes in the third division category as well as the Most Valuable Player award. The winning team in the third division competition will receive $35,000 while the runners-up will take home $15,000. The most valuable player will also receive a pair of Nike Overplayer VI basketball sneakers from GiftlandOfficemax.
Blowout sale on basketball shoes
Bobb stated also that GiftlandOfficemax realised that needs of basketball players and have slashed the prices of all Nike and Fila basketball shoes.
Bobb boasted that GiftlandOfficemax has an impressive line of basketball sneakers for both indoor and outdoor use and with their current sale, players and members of the general public will be able to have a stylish, reliable and durable sneaker and a price that is not just affordable but unbelievable. According to Bobb some of the shoes have been reduced by more than 50% such as the Nike Hyperize, while top sellers such as the Nike Hyper Dunk, which is worn by Clippers All Star forward Blake Griffin, has been reduced by close to 40 percent.
The establishment will also be giving away free items with the purchase of certain sneakers and according to Bobb the bargains on basketball sneakers are valid while stocks last.
Colts’ coach Vijai Panday encouraged all basketball players to shop at Giftland as they have continued to support the sport of basketball. Panday also urged players and members of the public at large to take advantage of the bargains that Giftland were currently offering on basketball sneakers.
