Eight schools through to Pee Wee quarters

Tucville, Redeemer, F.E Pollard, St. Gabriel’s, West Ruimveldt, North Georgetown, Marian Academy and St. Pius are the eight schools that will be competing in the quarter finals of the Courts-sponsored Pee Wee football competition following the quarter-final matches played on Saturday at the Banks DIH ground, Thirst Park.

Tucville, with a five goals from Simon Hackett  romped to a  9-0 victory over Green Acres. Hackett scored his goals in the 5th, 20th,21st, 23rd and 31st minutes bringing his total goals up to 12 over the three weeks period.

The other goal scorers for Tucville were Thurston Gordon in the 39th and 40th minutes, Brandon Matthews in the 10th and DeAndre Linton in the 18th minute.

Redeemer Primary, under the watchful eye of Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell defeated Enterprise by a 4-2 margin. Shameer Dover scored a hat trick in the second, fourth and 26 minutes while Michael George and Orin Vansertima netted in the 17th and 25th minutes. The sixth goal came by way of an own goal. William Sergeant and Jermaine Garrett scored for Enterprise in the 10th and 11th minutes.  F.E. Pollard registered a 4-0 nil victory over Success Elementary Primary with goals being scored by Meshack Softleigh in the 17th and 34th minutes while Wade Thompson and Dwayne Dick scored in the 15th and 30th minutes.  Teon Forde with two goals in the  3rd and 9th minutes followed by Raymond Bandhu in the 23rd minute and an own goal saw St. St. Gabriel’s registering a 4-1 victory over Sophia Primary. The lone goal from Sophia was scored by Arthur Leon.

West Ruimveldt with goals off the boot of Joseph Singh defeated St. Margret’s  whose consolation goal was scored by Daniel Smith.
Meanwhile, North Georgetown defeated South Ruimveldt  2-1. North Gorgetown’s two goals were scored by the multi talented Tariq Saunders in the 9th and 20th minutes.  Marian Academy with assistance from Shemroy Holder in the 11th and 30th minutes defeated St. Sidwell’s by a 2-1 margin.

In the final match of the day St. Pius defeated Ketley by a 3-1 victory. St. Pius goals were scored by Ezekiel Banjamin in the 12th minute and Dominique Benn in the 26th and 40th minutes. The lone goal for Ketley was scored by Beveney McGarrel.

Also in staying true to its word three parents were awarded prizes by the sponsors for their support of the teams; Susan Brown for Tucville won a Coby DVD Player, Devon Alfred for Enterprise took home a MP3 Players while Josephus Charles of North Georgetown a Vacuum Cleaner.

The competition continues next Saturday at the same venue. With the quarter final matches as well as the eight losing teams playing each other the remainder places. Also too, parents again will win prizes.
