Noble House Seafoods second division competition…

Police Sports Club (PSC) was the only side to secure an outright victory when the rain-affected Noble House Seafoods second division, two-day competition continued in the capital city last weekend.

In the other results, Transport Sports Club (TSC) won on first innings against Third Class while the game between the University of Guyana and Malteenoes Sports Club game failed to produce a win on first innings.

At the GYO ground, TSC drew with a spirited Third Class.

Transport won the toss and inserted Third Class to bat who responded with 171 all out in 43.1 overs. Lenny Pancham top scored with 66 while Andre O’Neal and Randy Ramrup each made 27. Bowling for TSC, off spinner Azim Azeez bagged 5 for 53 while seamer Keon Morris took 4 for 28.

TSC in reply scored 211 all out 51 overs to secure first innings points. Devaughn Nandan led the way with 65; Sunil Singh made 35 and Charwayne McPherson 24.

Bowling for Third Class Randy Ramroop took 3 for 22, Trevor Hussein 3 for 34 and Andre O’Neal 3 for 58.

Third Class in their second innings reached 199 for 9 in 43 overs before the captains agreed to a draw.

Randy Ramroop hit 15 fours in 102 while O’Neal made 31 and Ray Bryan 15.

Azeez fell one wicket short of a 10-wicket match haul as he took 4 for 26 while Shawn Massiah supported with 3 for 48.

At Turkeyen, only 60 overs were possible in the match between the University of Guyana and Malteenoes Sports Club.

When play started just after midday on Sunday, Malteenoes won the toss and sent in the University team who scored 121 all out in 29 overs with Omesh Danram making 38 and Clevon Hyman and Royston Alkins 17 runs each.

Bowling for Malteenoes SC, Antonell Atwell took 6 for 34 and Orin Forde 2 for nine.

Malteenoes SC, in reply, closed on 102 for 8 in 30 overs.

Kareem Naughton made the top score of 40 while Kefa Naughton chipped in with 22. Bowling for U.G. Alkins took 4 for 39 while his fellow off spinner Dennis Heywood collected 3 for 29.  The low scoring match ended in a tame draw leaving both teams to share the points.

At the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground, Police Sports Club (PSC) pulled off an innings victory over Ace Warriors. Ace Warriors batted first and were bowled out for 137 with PSC’s Mark Cumberbatch grabbing 4 for 22 while Vishal Jaigobin supported with 3 wickets and Pernell London 2.

Police declared their first innings at 288 for 6 with Troy Benn blasting a century (101) and Reginald Rodrigues, 76.

Ace Warriors were then bundled out for just 42 to give Police victory by an innings and 109 runs. Rawle Haynes grabbed 5 for 15 while London took 2 wickets in the second innings.
