Alpha’s win over BV a boon, gears to tackle Buxton today

Alpha United football club is gearing up to tackle Buxton United from the second to last position on the points table, when matches continue on Sunday at the Buxton Ground.

Alpha defeated BV/Triumph at the Super League games recently; winning three goals to nil in a match which saw BV holding the defending champions to a nil-all draw at half time.

Alpha’s Anthony “Awo” Abrams slammed in two goals in the 49th and 82nd minutes and Manasseh Primo slotted in the other in the 85th min. The team also comprised current and former national players Dwight Peters, Abassy McPherson, Quincy Madramootoo, Ronson Williams, Anthony Benfield, Daniel Wilson, Kris Camacho and Philbert Moffat.

The BV/Triumph team has former national players Delroy Deen, Colin Jones and Linden Dennis.

Three matches will be played at the Buxton Ground on Sunday starting from 3.30 pm. Buxton United will be starting from third place with eight points in the match against Alpha which has four points.

Pele and BCC Rosignol United are expected to tussle from 6 pm.

They are starting off with six and five points respectively and a win for either team will secure a comfortable place at the top.

At 8 pm, BK Western Tigers will scrap with a struggling Milerock which is at the bottom of the table in the feature game. Western Tigers goes into the match with eight points.
